Ghana’s Emmanuel Tagoe, (29-1, 14 KO’s), will take on Russia’s Vyacheslav Gusev, (25-5, 8 KO’s), on January 26 for the IBF International and the WBO International lightweight titles.
The bout will be staged at Bukom Boxing Arena as Tagoe, the reigning WBO Africa champion, begins his quest for a unification ahead of a world title shot.
Baby Jet Promotions have dubbed the card “Asamoah Gyan Fight Night 2.” The inaugural event featured Tagoe as well, who is their chief fighter. In that October event, Tagoe won the WBA Africa belt with a 12-round unanimous decision over former world champion Paulus Moses of Namibia.
Tagoe recently signed a promotional deal with the New York-based DiBella Promotions. The company also promotes Ghana’s Richard Commey, who will be fighting Isa Chaniev for the vacant IBF world lightweight title on February 2nd.
Tagoe plans to move to the USA following the Gusev bout, which will be his last in Ghana for the foreseeable future.
