Former lightweight world champion Richard Commey and rising boxer Jackson Marinez both made weight for tonight’s main event showdown on ESPN, live from Las Vegas.
Ghana’s Commey and Marinez, who hails from the Dominican Republic, are both coming back off losses. Commey weighed 136-pounds. Marinez came in at 135.5.-pounds for this non-title affair.
Commey hasn’t fought since a knockout loss to Teofimo Lopez in December 2019, spending much of 2020 sidelined due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Marinez suffered the loss of his pro career in August 2020 via controversial decision to Rolando “Rolly” Romero with the WBA Interim World Lightweight title on the line. Many observers felt not only did Marinez win, but did so clearly.
