A chance meeting took place between British heavyweight rivals Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, as the pair came face to face in Marbella, where the two boxers are vacationing at the moment.
Joshua posted a photo to social media to reveal the chance meeting between the pair.
Joshua bumped into Fury as the ‘Gypsy King’ drove along the Spanish coast, rolling down the window of his car to have a face to face talk.
In sharing the photo of their meeting on his Instagram page, Joshua added a fist punch and wrote: “Sweeeeeeeeeeeet Caroline!! Ohhhh ohhh ohhhhh.”
And then Fury responded on his own Instagram page with – “2021 it’s going off.”
In the last few weeks, there have been ongoing rumors that a two-fight series between Joshua and Fury will take place in 2021.
The two sides have had discussions about a two-fight deal and agreed on the financial aspects of the agreement, with a 50-50 split in the first bout and the winner would receive a 60-40 edge in the rematch.
Fury is getting geared up to defend his WBC world title in a trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder, on a date targeted for December 19.
Joshua has a mandatory defense lined up, with a defense of his WBO, IBF, IBO, WBA titles against Kubrat Pulev. There is currently no concrete date or venue on the table, but the fight is likely to land in the final few months of the year.
Even if both world champions win their respective defenses, there are still some hurdles to overcome before a unification can get underway in 2021.
Dillian Whyte has been pressing his position as the WBC’s mandatory challenger, while Oleksandr Usyk intends to press for his own mandatory shot as the top challenger under the WBO.
