Tyson Fury is very confident in his ability to defeat his domestic rival Anthony Joshua in a unification battle of heavyweight champions.
In the last few weeks, the camps of both big men have been discussing the possibility of a two-fight series in 2021.
As far as 2020 goes, Fury has to make a defense of his WBC title when he takes part in a trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder. And Joshua will make a mandatory defense when he stakes the WBA, WBO, IBF titles against Kubrat Pulev.
In their February rematch, Fury scored two knockdowns and stopped Wilder in the seventh round at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Wilder then exercised an immediate rematch clause.
Fury believes he already beat the second best heavyweight in the division – Wilder.
He says Joshua backed away from two different opportunities to fight Wilder in unification fights. Fury feels Joshua and his handlers were paranoid of suffering a knockout loss at the hands of Wilder.
When Wilder and Joshua were unable to reach an agreement in 2018 – Wilder turned around and finalized a deal to face Fury in December of that year.
“I have got to give it to [Wilder], he has got the bottle… he wanted to fight the best. When I was out of the ring, retired, he tried to fight Joshua twice, it was going on for ages, we all know that,” Fury told IFL TV.
“They offered him $80 million for a two-fight deal, and I know a few people who saw proof of funds – people who I definitely trust and he refused it. I don’t think they are going to get any bigger pay-days than that. They refused it because they were scared of getting chinned by the Bronze Bomber.”
