Undefeated lightweight contender Teofimo Lopez may have sounded like he’d lost his love for boxing in past social media posts, but his latest one suggests the Brooklyn, New York native has got his swagger back.
Lopez (14-0, 11 KOs) is set to take on IBF World Lightweight Champion Richard Commey of Ghana on December 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York. If his recent Tweets are any indication, the brash 22-year-old believes he’s up for the challenge.
This my bread and butter… ain’t nobody taking this away from me!

All that mistreatment towards me and my family going to be shown December 14th! I’m still here.. #TheTakeover

It’s a far cry from the Lopez who sounded disillusioned with the sport following a tough unanimous decision win over Masayoshi Nakatani last July. Either way, he faces a serious challenge in the rising Commey, 29-2 (26 KOs), who has stopped his last four opponents, including an eighth-round TKO of former world champion Ray Beltran in June.
