Ghana’s Black Bombers, the national boxing team, have left Ghana and are en route to the Gold Coast, Australia, for The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018).
The games begin on April 4th and run through April 15th. Over 70 commonwealth nations and territories will be represented at these events.
The Black Bombers team consists of seven boxers and two coaches. Lead coach Ofori Asare is also an AIBA instructor and has led the Ghana squad for a number of years. He’ll be joined by coach Akai Nettey.
Team Ghana will also include George Lamptey, president of the Ghana Boxing Federation.
Athletes will be further motivated by an extra $10,000 payout that will be supplied to all gold medal winners, thanks to a local Australian entrepreneur.
