Lagos – Lagos – Nigeria and West Africa Boxing Union (WABU) Middleweight champion, Abolaji “Afonja Warrior” Rasheed will take on Moroccan boxer, Bilel Jkitou, for the vacant Africa Boxing Union (ABU) title. The Moroccan is unbeaten in his record of eight fights. The fight comes up on Saturday, January 20 in Morocco. Secretary of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C) and manager of Rasheed, Remi Aboderin in a chat with INDEPENDENT prior to the trip to Morocco, said his ward was battle ready for the belt.
“He is a good fighter and we’ve all things best possible to ensure that he wins the fight.
“Rasheed is a hard puncher and things being equal, Nigerians should expect a good fight from him but they must also pray for him, Aboderin said.
According to him, his ward past experience in previous fights will be an added advantage for him.
“Last December 26 in Lagos, he fought a Ghanaian and won and I think he will use the experience from that fight and other big fights he has been involved in to win the vacant ABU title,” Aboderin added.
The talented boxing manager assured Nigerians, especially boxing followers that they will not disappoint the country as his ward is capable of winning the fight and bring home the belt.
“The fight will be tough but like I said, we are prepared for it and I want to promise Nigerians that we will not disappoint,” Aboderin promised.
