Amateur boxers will have to fight their way into Team Fiji squad for the 2017 Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu.
Fiji Amateur Boxing Association president Manasa Baravilala said the final trials would be held next month.
“The National Boxing Championship from September 7-9 is also the final trials for the Fiji Boxing Team to the 2017 Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu as selection for Team Fiji Boxing is currently wide open,” he said in a press release.
“We are proud to announce that the Raiwai/Raiwaqa community are hosts to the National Boxing Championship scheduled for the Raiwai Community Hall.
“A feature of the National Boxing Championship will be the inclusion of novice, youths, and women.”
Meanwhile, FABA sanctioned boxing program was held at the Raiwai Community Hall yesterday.
“Boxing clubs affiliated to FABA will showcase their skills at the Raiwai Youth Hall on Saturday (yesterday),” he added.
The program was sanctioned by FABA and supervisor for referee and judges was Manu Koroi.
“All FABA accredited referees and judges are asked to participate as a review and ranking will be conducted by AIBA (Amateur International Boxing Association) star three instructor next month.”
