Ghana’s Samuel Takyi, winner of the bronze medal at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics, has received a congratulatory message from Ghana President Nana Akufo Addo.
Takyi’s bronze medal is the first of any kind for his nation in 29 years. The talented 20-year old narrowly missed receiving a silver medal at the very least, losing a close split decision to America’s Duke Ragan last week.
Even so, his performance throughout the Olympics earned plaudits worldwide–and from the most important voice back home.
Big congratulations to Samuel Takyi from all of us at home, for hoisting high the flag of Ghana at the Tokyo Olympics, and for winning a bronze medal, Ghana’s first Olympic medal in 29 years. Well done.

A warm welcome is expected once Takyi returns home from Olympics.
