Bastie Samir says he aims to look beyond compatriot Briamah Kamoko, alias Bukom Banku, and fight on the bigger stage for a world title.
However, be that as it may, he is ready to give a second chance to Banku whom he famously knocked out in the seventh round in their epic fight two years ago at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
“For now I am moving forward, I am looking at the bigger picture, but if Banku want to fight me again, I am always ready for him, I don’t use juju,” he noted.
Undefeated Samir, 33,(17-0-1) will headline the much hyped Kwahu ‘Bliss on the Hills’ boxing fiesta at Kwahu Abetifi in the Eastern Region on December 26.
The super-middleweight boxer will clash with Nigerian tough-nut,Sunday Ajuwa, on top of the bill packed with celebrated Ghanaian boxers on the night.
Samir who is the elder brother of pugilist, Issah Samir, last fought nine months ago at the Bukom Boxing Arena where he knocked out Beninois Raoul Lokossou in the second round.
The knockout specialist is expected to make light work of Ajuwa who has not won in his last three bouts but the Lagos based fighter is known for springing surprises when least expected.
The night will also witness the return of George, the Red Tiger Ashie, who will be fighting against a yet to be announced opponent exactly a year after beating Kenyan Michael Nyawade via a first round knockout at the Arena in Accra.
Also to feature on the night will be a lightweight encounter involving fast rising star, Sheriff Quaye, against hard -hitter Samuel Akrogo while new revelation, Alfred Lamptey, will meet a yet to be announced opponent on the night.
At a brief press briefing last Thursday at the Gym Boxing Gym in Accra, promoters of the bout, Box Office Sports Promotions and Kwahu Republic sounded optimistic that patrons will witness a spectacle on the night.
“This is free, no tickets sold, we are encouraging Ghanaians to come to Kwahu on December 26 to witness wonders,” Samuel Aboagye, a representative of Kwahu Republic, told the gathering.
The CEO of Box Office Sports Promotions, Alex Ntiamoah Boakye, appealed for corporate bodies to sustain the sport and encouraged investors to invest in the game for great dividends.
