Undefeated WBC Middleweight World Champion Jermall Charlo is in Equatorial Guineau, connecting with his roots.
Charlo visited the country, touring schools and historic sites, as well as meeting with the First Lady, Constancia Mangue Nsue Okomo.
Last November, Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs) ended a 30-month hiatus from the ring with a dominant one-sided decision win over Jose Benavidez Jr. The layoff was due to injuries, as well as battles with mental health issues. Now rejuvenated, rumors abound that he is next to face Undisputed Super Middleweight World Champion and boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez. If so, Charlo will look to avenge the family name as Mexico’s Canelo soundly defeated his twin brother Jermell last September.
In the meantime, Charlo and his wife are spending time in Equitorial Guinea. In an IG post, the unbeaten two-division world champion posted a photo of himself greeting the First Lady. The caption read, “I traveled to Africa to meet the First Lady of Equatorial Guinea where I received my Dual Citizenship.”
