MTC Kilimanjaro Boxing Club hosted an amateur boxing bonanza at Oshakati Independence Stadium on Saturday, showcasing top-tier boxing with a display of skill and determination.
A total of 10 bouts unfolded, featuring boxers from various stables vying for top honors.
In the 46-48 kg weight category, Nangolo Tadeus from Baby Elephant Boxing Academy (BEBA) emerged victorious against Simeon Andreas from Ongwediva Boxing Club (OBC) after three intense rounds.
Moving to the 51-54 kg weight class, Nangolo Isdor from King Filimone Boxing Academy (KFSBA) secured a win against Andreas Naimwala from (DBC), while Angula Samaria from Bulelo Boxing Academy (BBA) triumphed over Haikali Fillemon from Rainbow Boxing Academy.
Other notable matches included Johannes David from KFSBA defeating Philemon Mikael from OBC and Shikonenkeni Silas from BBA overpowering Kanu Kasavi from Rainbow Boxing Club.
Following the main bout, Amon Iiyambo from Toremu Boxing Academy expressed his elation, emphasizing the hard work invested and the belief that it’s their time to dominate northern boxing.
“We worked so hard for this event, putting in a lot of work, and we came here and did what we wanted. I am happy with my boxers and the way they performed tonight,” he said.
Joseph Bernhard from MTC Kilimanjaro Boxing Club shared his excitement about the tournament’s success, expressing a future ambition to expand their events to other northern towns such as Katima Mulilo and Rundu.
“This was quite a successful event. Northerners turned up again and showed their support as usual. I can’t thank boxing fans enough, as they play a crucial part in the development of the sport,” he stated.
In the 60-64 kg category, Julius Julius from MTC Kilimanjaro Boxing Club emerged victorious against Kambalala Lukas from KFSBA. Meanwhile, Titus Simeon from OBC secured a win against Nangombe Mathew from MTC Kilimanjaro in the main supporting bout.
