United Kingdom (UK) boxing promotion, Belfast Boxers, has set up a Go Fund Me page in an effort to help injured SA boxer Ludumo Lamati.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SA BOXER?
On 27 May, the SA boxer travelled to Belfast, Northern Ireland, seeking for a victory against Englishman Nick Ball at the SSE Arena. However, things did not go very well for the local Eastern Cape boxer who not only suffered a defeat but one that left him hospitalised. According to Boxing Scene, Lamati suffered a brain bleed during the final bout.
His 22-fight unbeaten record came to a devastating end after Ball knocked out Lamati in the 12th and final round via technical knockout.
Due to the impact of the final blows, Lamati had to be carried out of the ring on a stretcher after receiving attention from on-sight medical personnel.
GO FUND ME CAMPAIGN BY UK BOXING PROMOTION
Organized by Hugh Halloran, the fundraiser read:
Professional Boxer Ludumo Lamati is from South Africa he [recently] fought a 12 round contest at SSE Arena Belfast.
During the last round he collapsed in the ring. He was rushed from the SSE to Royal Victoria hospital and sedated to stop swelling in his Brain. Ludumo is still currently undergoing treatment in critical care unit in Royal Victoria hospital.
BBBOC and Queensbury promotion are working to bring the family over as soon as possible to have by his side, as his team had to go home because of visas.
“We want to start this go fund to help raise funds as Ludumo may never box again and will need financial help in his recovery.”
We have still no way of knowing the outcome but we know he’s getting the best care anyone could ask for at the Royal Victoria hospital.
Please donate what you can so we can help ease the burden on the family.
