The MTC Sunshine Boxing and Fitness Academy will stage the Together As One Part 9 boxing bonanza at Ramatex in Windhoek on 29 October.
Announcing the event, promoter Nestor Tobias said that four international title fights and exciting supporting bouts will be on the menu.
“We are eager to see all our continental and global champions in action defending their titles to improve their world ratings,” he said.
“We are still very ambitious to bless Namibia with another world title fight this year and we are getting closer to that dream. It has become extremely difficult to get international boxers to accept fights against our boxers in Namibia because they are simply too dangerous but we continue to try,” he added.
Tobias said that several top African fightershad been contacted but soe of them declined to fight against some of Namibia’s upcoming stars. “We have challenged the best on the continent with the likes of Ludumo Lamati vs Filipus Nghitumbwa and Tony Rashid. We also contacted all the top welterweights in Africa with names like Thulani Mbenge and Jabulani Makense to fight Charles Shinima, but his last KO in Helao Nafidi scared so many opponents that it makes it difficult for them to accept facing him,” he said.
“We are, however, pleased that we have a credible hard-hitting opponent in the super middleweight division in the form of Nigerian nightmare Obina Joseph Mathew, who will be fighting Jon Jon Ndjolonimus for the WBO Africa super middleweight title,” he added.
The fast and hard-hitting Mateus Heita will also be in action against a top Tanzanian fighter, Innocent Evarist.
The card is as follows:
WBO Global super bantamweight title fight over 12 rounds:
Fillipus Nghitumbwa v Sabelo Ngebinyange (SA)
WBO Africa super middleweight title fight over 12 rounds:
Jon Jon Ndjolonimus v Obina Joseph Mathews (Nigeria)
WBO Africa welterweight title fight over 12 rounds:
Charles Shinima v Tiwo Olowu (Nigeria)
Super bantamweight fight:
Mateus ‘The Beast’ Heita v Innocent Evarist (Tanzania)
Tobias said they will announce the undercard in due course in line with their culture to have a great development program on their main cards to groom future champions.
The event will take place at Ramatex on the 29th October 2022. General tickets will go for N$50, while VIP tickets cost N$500 and VVIP tables seating 10 people will go for N$20 000. Tickets will be available at webtickets at any Pick & Pay outlet.
“Fans can expect a great display of boxing techniques, ability, skills, IQ, fitness and power as all these kids got all this in them. Local artists will be in action to entertain the fans during and after the boxing. This will be one of the biggest explosive boxing events in Namibia,” Tobias said.
