Richard Commey has a date, venue and network for his next bout.
According to a report from Boxingscene.com, the former IBF world lightweight champion will make his 140-pound debut against former two-division champion Jose Pedraza Saturday, August 27, live on ESPN from the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Also, sensational heavyweight prospect Jared Anderson (11-0, 11 KOs) is expected to be the card’s co-feature against an opponent to be determined.
This will be the first fight for Commey (30-4, 27 KOs) since December 11, 2021, when he dropped a 12-round unanimous decision to Vasiliy Lomachenko at Madison Square Garden in New York. The loss prompted the 35-year-old Accra, Ghana native to move up to the super lightweight division where he takes on Puerto Rico’s Pedraza. Last March, Pedraza, 33, 29-4 (14 KOS), lost via 12-round unanimous decision to former unified 140-pound champion Jose Ramirez.
No word on when an official announcement will be made although one is expected in the coming days.
