ESPN Africa is back and ready to serve fight fans with their monthly dose of the best boxing the African continent has to offer. ESPN Africa Boxing 16 saw both Cowin Ray and Bangile Nyangani successfully defend and retain their championships. Now, the 17th edition’s card has been revealed. Although this is a lighter card, with only 7 fights in total, it also promises to deliver high-intensity action.
The five live bouts will be preceded by two undercard fights in the heavyweight and the junior bantamweight divisions. The co-main event of the evening will see South Africa’s Sharedine Fortuin and Malawi’s Ellen Simwaka clash over 10 rounds, in an effort to claim the IBF Africa Bantamweight Championship. The main event promises to be an exciting feature as recently-crowned SA Junior Lightweight Champion, Sibusiso Zingange, makes his first defence against Lunga Sitemela (13-1).
