Former WBO 122-pound world champion Isaac Dogboe is set to face Eugene Lagos of the Philippines Saturday, May 21, in Dogboe’s native Ghana.
The 10-round featherweight bout will take place at Accra Sports Stadium and is part of a card headlined by Americans Tevin Farmer and Mickey Bey squaring off.
Top Rank Promotions, Dogboe’s long-time promoter, is not involved in the organizing of this event which will be promoted by Tevin Farmer Promotions, Mickey Bey & Bey Bros Promotions and S3 Promotions. No word on whether that means Dogboe is no longer with Top Rank or is simply keeping busy until they provide a date.
Dogboe (23-2, 15 KOs) last competed in November 2020, winning a hard-fought 10-round majority decision over Christopher Diaz in Las Vegas. The Ghanaian has reeled off three consecutive victories since suffering back-to-back losses to Emanuel Navarrete and losing his world title in the process.
The 27-year-old Lagos (16-6-3, 11 KOs) also fought last November. He was knocked out in three rounds by Michael Magnesi in Huntington, New York. Prior to that bout, three of his last four opponents had entered the ring with a losing record.
