Ghanaian-American super welterweight prospect Eslih Owusu will face Oliver Meng for the vacant WBC Youth World 154-pound title Thursday, April 21 at the Frederiksberg Hallerne in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The battle of unbeaten southpaws will take place in Meng’s native country, making it an uphill battle for the 22-year-old Owusu (7-0, 4 KOs), who fights out of Worcester, Massachusetts in the USA and is trained by Daniel “Oko” Odamtten, the respected coach who guided Ghana boxing legend Ike “Bazooka” Quartey to world title glory.
This will be Owusu’s first 10-rounder. Meng, 22, 8-0 (3 KOs), won a 10-round unanimous decision over Vasyl Kurasov in February 2020. This will be his first fight since, a layoff of over two years. In Owosu’s most recent bout, in February 2022, he won a six-round unanimous decision over Evincii Dixon.
