South Africa Boxing news: Three amateur boxers from eMbalenhle will represent Mpumalanga at the national championship in Cape Town next month.
Manqoba Magubane (22), Lungelo Xhakana (20) and Thabang Thabeng (20) first competed in the Gert Sibande District Boxing Tournament that was held at eMbalenhle Sasol Club in April, then qualified to represent the district at the provincial boxing tournament on August 28, where they qualified to represent the province in Cape Town in the coming month.
Magubane said it is difficult for them as amateur boxers because they don’t get enough support with regard to boxing attire and finances.
“When we compete, we have to exchange attire like boxing boots and trousers. We ask our local businesses to assist us.”
Magubane said they ae stressed about their trip to Cape Town because he is unemployed and the other two are students.
“What are we going wear when competing?
“If we can have financial support, we will make sure that we get the attire that will make it simple for everyone to see where are we from and from which province,” said Mr Magubane.
