Former unified world 140-pound champ Julius Indongo returns to the ring against Hassan Mwakinyo Friday, July 30, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The bout headlines the third edition of the Rumble in Dar Boxing Series, promoted by Global Boxing Stars and the Jackson Group. Namibia’s Indongo will be fighting on enemy territory taking on Mwakinyo, who hails from Tanzania.
The 38-year-old Indongo (23-3, 12 KOs) last fought in November 2020, when he was stopped in two rounds by unbeaten prospect Daniyar Yeleussinov. He’s lost three of his last since unifying 140-pound titles in April 2017.
Mwakinyo, 26, 19-2 (13 KOs) fought last month, stopping Angola’s Maiala Antonio in nine rounds. He enters this bout having reeled off nine consecutive wins and is unbeaten since 2017.
