Namibia’s renowned boxing stable, the MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing & Fitness Academy, will next month host its first boxing bonanza for the year in the capital.
Being held under the theme ‘Together as One’ Boxing Bonanza, the event will be staged at the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino on 10 April and will see Paulus ‘John John’ Ndjolonimus taking on Anthony Jarman in the main fight for the vacant WBO Africa super middleweight title over 10 rounds.
Speaking during yesterday’s launch of the boxing bonanza at Thuringerhof Protea Hotel in Windhoek, Ndjolonimus said he is excited for the fight and is honoured to be granted the opportunity to fight for a WBO Africa super middleweight title – an opportunity he has been waiting for.
“I am excited about this fight, there is no pressure heading into this bout and all I can say is that I am ready for my opponent. I also want to thank my promoter for working tirelessly to ensure that I get a fight of this magnitude as I have waited long for this title fight,” said Ndjolonimus, who holds an unscratched record of 11 wins from the number of fights.
Meanwhile, his opponent, the veteran Jarman said he is equally grateful for the opportunity to fight for a title and assured that he will bring his A-game to the ring when he faces the unbeaten Ndjolonimus.
“I feel honoured to fight against him, he’s undefeated, and it’s my first time fighting against someone who is undefeated. I feel confident and excited about this fight and I am looking forward to this encounter,” a confident Jarman said, who boasts 17 wins, 3 losses and one draw from 21 fights.
The bonanza will also see a total of 12 other bouts featuring local and foreign fighters and it will be a combination of boxers from various gyms across the country, not only from the MTC Nestor Sunshine Boxing & Fitness Academy.
