Legendary British boxer Alan Minter has died. On Wednesday, September 9, Minter passed away after a battle with cancer. He was 69 years old.
Minter’s success as the Amateur Boxing Association of England Middleweight Champion was the beginning of his successful boxing career in 1971. In 1972, Minter earned a bronze medal in the Summer Olympics in Munich.
Minter amassed a pro boxing record of 39-9, 1 NC. He captured the WBA and WBC Middleweight Titles on March 16, 1980. He took a split decision victory over Vito Antuofermo. In the rematch, Minter stopped Antuofermo in the eighth round.
