One-time Gauteng Provincial Boxing Control Commission Member Shepherd “Mzimba” Kiewiet passed away earlier this week at the age of 64.
Kiewiet who was a Chartered Accountant worked from his offices in Glenvista, Johannesburg and was born in Orlando West in Soweto.
He was a member of the Provincial Board together with Dr. Peter Ngatane, Judge Boycie Mbha, Stanley Sono, Derrick Watson, and Jeff Ellis before the Minister of Sport Ngconde Balfour dismantled the provincial boxing structures in 2000.
Kiewiet also acted as Chief Executive Officer of the interim national board for a short while.
His input from a financial point of view at the time was invaluable and he was also the International Boxing Federation representative for South Africa at one time.
