Ghana, the African nation steeped in a rich boxing history, will likely not have a representative for the sport at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Five members of the Black Bombers, the Ghana national boxing team, lost in the semifinals, failing to reach the finals of the Africa Olympic Qualifiers in Dakar, Senegal, with one boxer remaining.
Ghana will have another shot to qualify for the Olympics in the France tournament in May. However, given the nature of that event, if they were not able to qualify here, they are unlikely to qualify there.
