WBA/IBF/WBO World Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua visited popular Lagos slum Makoko again as he posed with hometown fans.
Joshua who is on holiday in his native country, posted pictures of himself flanked by fans, including children, who displayed his belts.
This is the second time Joshua visited the Makoko area of Lagos in the space of eight months. The boxing champion came back in July 2019, following a shocking TKO loss to Andy Ruiz Jr.
But this time, Joshua returned as a world champion, having defeated Ruiz in their rematch last December. Joshua allowed the Makoko children tohold those belts which he won back.
In the tweet, Anthony Joshua wrote, “I hail o!” adding a proudly displayed emoji of the Nigerian flag.
Joshua arrived in Nigeria on Wednesday morning, and the pugilist quickly took to work by getting himself enrolled into the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) data, though the process was dragged into the whirlpool of criticism.
He later took a tour of his hometown in Ogun state alongside his 4-year-old son Prince Joseph Bayley Temiloluwa Joshua, where he was welcomed by a teeming legion of people of the community. He also visited the Elepe of Epe Oba Adewale Oshiberu before paying a courtesy visit to the palace of Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi.
Earlier, Joshua had met President Muhammadu Buhari who was in the United Kingdom for the Investment Summit. It was there the heavyweight king prostrated for the president and presented his belts to him in the presence of other top Nigerians including Abike Dabiri-Erewa, chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) and Nìyí Adebayo, minister of industry, trade and investment.
