Popular boxing promoter Nestor Tobias believes that fairness and specific rules should be key.
“We just want fairness to follow the rules and regulations, because board don’t make boxing. The promoters, management and the coach they make boxing not the board. The boards is just to guide us according to the rules. Dr. Haufiku the new Chairman he looks positive and I think we can build on that” Tobias said.
Salute Boxing Academy’s Kiriata Kamanya welcomed the new board, hoping they will invest in a solid relationship with the country’s promoters.
“I want them to do what they were told by the Minister. To help us work together hand in hand with the new board, because if they don’t have promoters there will no boxing in Namibia ” Kamanya said.
According to AC Boxing Gym and Fitness Academy’s Imms Moses, members of the new board are widely known in boxing circles already and so it’s a case of putting differences aside and working together to the best of their ability.
“I think getting a new board is not really new especially when Dr. Haufiku is involved, who use to serve on previous board. I think it’s a great thing and seems like we have a very good team to work with” Moses said.
The MTC Nestor “Sunshine” Tobias Boxing & Fitness Academy will be the first stable to host a boxing tournament under the auspices of the new board on the 23rd of November.
