According to reports, the anticipated rematch between WBC World Super Welterweight Champion Tony Harrison and former titlist Jermell Charlo will occur Saturday, December 21 in southern California.
The bout will headline a Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) card on FOX, according to Mike Coppinger.
Their first encounter, last December, saw Harrison (28-2, 21 KOs) defeat then-champion Charlo (32-1, 16 KOs) by a controversial, close 12-round unanimous decision. Harrison was able to keep Charlo off-balance by boxing off his backfoot and using his jab.
Nevertheless, many observers thought Charlo’s aggression and power punching should have earned him the decision.
The rematch was originally slated for June 23, but Harrison suffered an ankle injury during camp that forced the bout’s postponement. Charlo would fight on that date, scoring an impressive third-round KO of veteran Jorge Cota.
