Nigeria’s Rilwan Babatunde will defend his international welterweight title against Ghana’s Eden Biki at GOtv Boxing night 19 on Sunday, July 21.
There will eight domestic bouts and one international bout as a grand prize of N1m is up for grabs for the best boxer of the night. Four female boxers will also be on parade at the boxing event.
Nigeria’s Rilwan ‘Babyface’ Babatunde, who is the reigning West African Boxing Union welterweight champion, will defend his belt against Eden Biki of Ghana in an international welterweight title bout.
The bout, which is the biggest of the nine bouts on the night. is scheduled to be held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium. Aside the international bout, 16 other boxers will also be on parade, with four female boxers making the number.
Billed to fight in a national challenge duel, reigning African Boxing Union (ABU) lightweight champion, Oto “Joe Boy” Joseph, will face challenger Tope “Berinja” Agboola.
In another anticipated bout, Hammed “Ese Hammed” Ganiyu will face West African Boxing Union (WABU) lightweight champion, Rilwan “Real One” Oladosu.
The featherweight division will attract plenty of attention with the fight between national champion, Taiwo “Esepo” Agbaje, and former ABU champion, Waidi “Skoro” Usman.
In another duel, the hard-punching Tope “TP Rock” Musa will be up against Kazeem “The Light” Oliwo, while Akeem “Sugar Boy” Olaiwola takes on Waheed “Showmax” Shogbamu and Adeyemi “Spirit” Adekanla go against Isaac “I Star” Chukwudi.
In the female category, Adedeji Abiodun takes on Cynthia Ogunsemilore while Rodiat Yusuf will face Rodiat Ibrahim.
The best boxer at the event will go home with a cash prize of N1million alongside the Mojisola Ogunsanya Memorial Trophy.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Opeyemi Adeyemi picked up a cash prize of N1 million alongside the Mojisola Ogunsanya Memorial trophy after emerging the best boxer at the 18th edition. Although the 19-year-old boxer finished his six-round bout against Sadiq Adeyemi with a draw, his performance on the night was enough to hand him a cash prize.
