(Xinhua) — Host country Indonesia earned 4 gold medals in an international amateur boxing championship recently held in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province’s destination of Labuan Bajo, an official of Indonesian boxing organization said on Monday.
“All of those four gold medals were earned by four Indonesian male boxers from Team A,” Indonesian Amateur Boxing Association (Pertina) Chief Johanes Asadoma was quoted as saying by a local media, referring to results of the 23rd Indonesian President Cup International Boxing Tournament that ended on Sunday.
The Indonesian male boxer who won in the tournament’s finals were Samada Saputra, Mandagie Jill, Papendang Farand and Muskita Maikel Robert, Asadoma said.
Two Indonesian female amateur boxers failed in the final matches after they were beaten by Indian contenders in light-flyweight and lightweight classes respectively.
