Ahead of the forthcoming 12th All Africa Games in Rabat, Morocco, the Nigeria Boxing Federation has fixed June 23 to 25 for camping and trials for selected boxers in the male and female categories.
The AAG holds from August 16 to 30.
The trial is scheduled to hold at the Brai Ayonote Gymnasium of the National Stadium, Lagos.
Sports Extra gathered that boxers will slug it out for places at the Games in five weight categories.
Head coach of the NBF, Anthony Konyegwachie, stated that though the number of boxers the ministry was willing to take to the Games was not as much as he wanted, their aim was to get good boxers that would represent Nigeria at the Games and win medals.
He said, “We only wish to get the best boxers we can use for the Games. I actually wanted as much as 10 boxers but the ministry is giving us just five in both the male and female categories.”
