The Zambia Boxing Federation (ZBF) has started hosting preparatory boxing tournaments to come up with an Under 20 team to represent Zambia at the upcoming boxing tournament in South Africa.
ZBF President Kennedy Mubita says the junior boxers that have participated in the tournament so far have showed great skills and the coaching staff will soon establish the final team.
Mubita says ZBF will be hoping to have full Under-20 teams for both girls and boys.
He was speaking during a boxing tournament held at Minachi Lodge in Lusaka’s Chalala area.
And Exodus Amateur Boxing Promotions President Anthony Mwamba said eight teams under the promotion have so far participated and is hopeful many of them will make the final list.
Meanwhile, Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions Manager Christopher Malunga commended ZBF and Midlands Boxing Association for hosting such events.
Malunga said most of the professional boxers in the country come from such tournaments and grow into world class boxers.
