Uganda’s Badru Lusambya arrived in Accra on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s bout versus Ghana’s Patrick Allotey for the WBO Africa Super Welterweight title at Bukom Boxing Arena.
Allotey-Lusambya will headline Cabic Promotions’ “Big Fight Night 2.”
Speaking to the press at Afrikiko Restaurant, Lusambya, 31-3-2 (26 KOs), said this is his first time in Ghana, but is not intimidated by fans, keeping his mind singularly focused on the task at hand of winning the Africa title.
“I want to win the belt, I expect a good fight and I will crush Allotey. He has never fought anybody like me, and I will win either by knock out or on points, I am ready,” he said
Lusambya went on to say that he is a true professional and expects to give the fans in Ghana a good fight. However, he reminded that they’ll be disappointed as his expectations are to take the title to the other side of the continent, in Kampala, Uganda.
In his final message, Lusambya hinted at taking three chances in the fight. He promised to tarnish the record of Allotey, take the title and take Allotey’s wife to Kampala since he is a Muslim, and they are allowed to have more than one wife.
His coach and agent, Vincent Kato, supported the boxer and also guaranteed a win. They would not disclose the fight strategy, but revealed that his boxer is very good as a fighter and a boxer.
He charged boxing fans to come and watch how he is going to control the fight on Saturday night.
Ghana’s Allotey, 38-3 (30 KOs), wasn’t present at Afrikiko, but already informed the media not only of his plans to keep the WBO title in Africa, but to knock Lusambya out.
Meanwhile, tickets for Big Fight Night 2 are selling at abrisk pace. Aside from boxing, the show will feature several musical acts, including Papa Row, Efe, Tic Tac and others.
Three WBO Africa titles are at stake on this Cabic Promotions card. The promoters also want to use this platform to educate the youth on the dangers of drug abuse, especially Tramadol, which many are now using.
