African Boxing has come of age after four historic milestones in the just ended IBF 35tth annual convention in Italy. First, IBF Africa submitted a colorful Annual Report showing how the continent’s professional boxing “Top-Dog” has successfully carried out its “Outreach Program” as part of its social responsibilities.
The second note was the award of Xaba Boxing Promotional Event of South Africa as the best active InterContinental Tiles Promotional Company. The same outfit won the best active promoter for IBF Continental Africa, Middle East and Persian Gulf at the IBF 34th Convention in Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA last year 2017. Xaba Boxing Promotional and Events is owned and managed by Southern African businessman Ayanda Matiti of Eastern Cape, in South Africa.
The third and most important win for Africa was the Sino-Africa IBF Silk-Road Boxing Tournament Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IBF China and Rejoy Group of Companies from Peoples Republic of China. Sino-Africa IBF Silk-Road Boxing Tournaments is the result of an agreement that was signed in Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA in 2017 and united all the IBF continental bodies including IBF/Africa.
The fourth note for Africa was the agreement with IBF Muay Thai Boxing Tournaments to introduce the series in African continent. This will add great value to IBF activities in the mother continent that have been taking extraordinary lead in recent years. The inherent value for the recent development to Africa and its regions of the Middle East and Persian Gulf is its firmness to develop boxing as the professional sports to fight Institutional Poverty among youth.
Therefore, this year’s 35th IBF convention was a great win for Africa, Middle East and Persian Gulf and it goes far as to illustrate the prominence of the continent in the IBF global family as claimed by the President of IBF Africa Onesmo Alfred McBride Ngowi from its headquarters in TANZANIA.
Another positive Development for Africa: IBF Africa President Onesmo Alfred McBride has been appointed to Board of Directors of IBF Muay Thai making him the IBF Muay Thai Representative for Africa. President Ngowi joins an organization that is gaining popularity in the world and his inclusion will certainly add great values to it.
The President of IBF Muay Thai is Daryl Peoples while the Honorary President is Suwat Lipapanlop of Thailand. Other Board Members are: IBF President for China Ruihang Wang who is IBF Muay Thai Representative to China, Ben Keity IBF Board members and IBF Australasia representative who become IIBF Muaythai to Australia,
Sompong Archanukrow is the Ratings chairman while Pol. LT. GEN Kreerin is the Championship Chairman and Jimmy Chaichotchuang is the Muaythai Secretary General respectively.
