South Africa’s Zolani Tete retained his WBO world bantamweight title with a unanimous decision over Argentina’s Omar Andres Narvaez in Belfast, Ireland on Saturday.
Tete triumphed 120-108 on the scorecards of all three judges in a lackluster contest.
A patient Tete didn’t the aggression he’d shown in prior bouts, calmly outboxing the 42-year-old Narvaez without having to switch to another gear.
Narvaez was content to follow Tete around the ring, barely throwing, as if he wanted to avoid any exchanges. If he wanted to avoid getting knocked out, he had the perfect gameplan.
Tete improves to 27-1 (21 KOs) while Narvaez moves to 48-3-2 (25 KOs).
