Ghanaian cruiserweight boxer Braimah Kamoko, better known as “Bukom Banku,” has been arrested and is currently in police custody for assaulting an Assemblyman.
According to reports from Ghanacrusader.com, the boxer was accused of assaulting a government official during an “Easter Monday” party in Kamoko’s hometown of James Town.
The Assemblyman has been only been identified as going by the name “Zaid.” He registered a complaint with the James Town Police Station on Tuesday. Officers were then dispatched to Bukom, where they arrested the cruiserweight.
According to information gathered by Ghanacrusader.com, Bukom Banku has been transferred to Central Police cells and has already spent a night there.
The 37-year-old Kamoko saw his undefeated run end last October, when Bastie Samir stopped him inside seven rounds in front a capacity crowd at Bukom Boxing Arena. The rematch is set for June 30 at the same venue.
