Malawi Boxing will invade Namibia next week. Three Malawian boxers are set to feature in Namibia’s Independence Day celebration fights on March 20. Those three are Tinkhani Kamanga, Limbani Powder and Charles Misanjo.
Kamanga will take on Tomoteus Shula in a six-round featherweight division fight whereas Powder will face Max Ipinge in a four-round welterweight fight.
Misanjo is expected to trade punches with Paulinus Paulus in a six-round middleweight fight. The trio will feature on the undercard of Walter Kautondokwa and Billi Godoy, who tussle in a WBO Africa middleweight title fight.
Delta Force Boxing Academy trainer-cum-director, Clyde Musonda, said the three Malawians have been training since early February in readiness for the fights.
“They have been training since they were notified about the fights early February. I hope they will be in shape and impress during the bouts. I have advised them to make the most of this opportunity because they can secure other good fights as international promoters and matchmakers will be in attendance,” he said.
One of the boxers, Kamanga, said he was fine-tuning and was determined to impress.
“I have been there before; so, I know what it takes to fight in Namibia. I have the required experience to avoid defeat and stun my opponent. I know the fights will be tricky since our colleagues will be celebrating their country’s independence,” he said.
