Efetobor Apochi says he wants to win cruiserweight titles after his second-round TKO victory over defeated Darrius Flowers at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio in Texas on Saturday.
The Nigerian fought on the undercard of the Sergey Lipinets and Mikey Garcia IBF World Super Lightweight title fight. The win takes Apochi to 3-0 in his professional career.
His compatriot Efe Ajagba, who also fought on the undercard of the Lipinets-Garcia fight, also knocked Antonio Woods out in the first round of their heavyweight fight.
Apochi told our correspondent online that he was happy with his professional career record.
He said, “I am happy I got a win in my third professional fight. It is a thing of pride to represent the country well out here but I have my eyes set on challenging for and winning as many cruiserweight titles as I can.
“The beauty of being a boxer is to have titles to call your and I am working hard to ensure that very soon I can challenge for titles and be the headline for a fight. I am grateful to our trainers and management team. They have helped us on this journey.”
Apochi and Ajagba began their professional boxing careers in the United States in August 2017 after joining boxing promoting outfit Ringstar Sports.
Ajagba was the only boxer to represent Nigeria at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
