Terry Edwards, a top British Amateur boxing coach, is expected in Ghana on Sunday, January 21, to train the Ghana Amateur Boxing team, the Black Bombers ahead of Gold Coast 2018.
Terry, who would be engaged in various activities geared towards improving technical quality of boxing in the country, would make the Black Bombers his first duty.
The Black Bombers have moved into residential camping in Cape Coast and Edwards is expected to join them, to take them through modern techniques of the sport.
Edwards, was regarded as one of the greatest amateur boxers in Britain and the most successful coach of all time.
Edwards, started his stellar England and Team GB career in 1986 as London region coach. He was promoted to senior national coach in 2001, Performance Director in 2005 and in 2007 became Great Britain Head Coach.
Over the years, Edwards, has guided the cream of British professional boxing, developing household names as current Super Middleweight World Champion Carl ‘The Cobra’ Froch, undisputed Cruiserweight World Champion David ‘Hayemaker’ Haye and Lightweight World Champion Amir Khan, through their amateur careers.
During his reign as England and Great Britain coach, Edwards guided his charges to three Olympic games, five World Championships, five European Championships and three Commonwealth Games.
