Super featherweight contender Rafael Mensah and his promoter, Landmark Promotions, have a deal in place with Don King Promotions for an upcoming world title fight.
A contractual agreement reached between Landmark Promotions, managers of Mensah and Don King Promotions stipulates that the Bukom boxer faces off with Puerto Rican, Jose Luis Martinez Machado, between January 27 and March 2018.
Correspondence sighted by Ghana’s Daily Graphic detailed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two promotional firms and an agreement to the effect that the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) super featherweight title be fought for by the two fighters latest March 2018.
Undefeated Mensah, who has won all his 31 fights, has been further boosted by the sponsorship of Real Estate Firm JL Properties.
The southpaw, popularly referred to as the ‘Sweet Pea’ by his fans, is expected to receive a three-bedroom estate house from JL Properties and an undisclosed sum of cash should he defeat the Puerto Rican hard-hitter.
JL Properties had kept faith with the boxer since signing on 15 months ago, with sponsorship packages, including the provision of kit and promotion.
Dr. James Ato Lindsay, CEO of JL Properties, told the Daily Graphic in a recent interview in Accra that his outfit would increase the sponsorship package next year.
“We believe in Rafael Mensah and JL Properties will support him in all his endeavors to be successful”, he stated.
To this end, the CEO of Landmark Promotions, Anthony Kermah, has expressed gratitude to JL Properties for the support.
He pledged his outfit’s readiness to partner JL Properties to promote boxing in the country.
