The stage is set for the African Boxing Union lightweight champion, Stanley “Edo Boy” Eribo to defend his belt in a fresh bout.
Eribo has been scheduled to battle Tanzania’s Ramadhani Shauri on October 1, 2017 at the 12th edition of the GOtv Boxing Night in the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere Lagos.
Speaking at a recent press conference, Eribo noted that he has been longing to defend his title after winning it several months back.
The boxer with over 16 fights had plied his trade in Ghana before relocating to Nigeria to continue representing his country.
“I’m confident I will successfully defend my title by defeating Shauri. It’s not a child’s play to emerge ABU champion and I won’t toy with any challenge, especially one holding on the homefront,” Eribo said.
Meanwhile, his Tanzanian opponent has reportedly hinted that he would be pulling a surprise on Edo Boy in Nigeria and winning the coveted prize money of N2.5million as the best boxer of the night.
Sponsored by GOtv, and supported by MultiChoice under Flykite Promotions, GOtv Boxing Night will be broadcast live on SuperSport in 47 African countries.
