ACCRA, GHANA – There was a festive atmosphere at Kotoka International Airport as the UK squad touched down Sunday night, brimming with confidence. They’ll have an opportunity to back up their words with their fists this Saturday night against local counterparts in Azumah Nelson’s Fight Night, Round IV: Ghana vs. UK.
The combatants were greeted by the sounds of Ghanaian drums, chants and singers and traditional dancers as they exited the airports. The entertainment will continue Saturday night in an anticipated fight card.
In the main event, undefeated Ghana super featherweight champion Wahab Oluwaseum (10-0) will look to uphold national pride versus the rugged Irishman John “The Hitman” Hicks (14-2).
In the co-feature, popular local middleweight Emmanuel Anim prepares to throw down against 26-year-old Kieran “Lights Out” Leinster.
In super lightweight action, Ghana’s Raphael King of Ghana and England’s Anthony Ayinde will face-off in a six round affair.
In the only all-Ghana bout on the card, Wasiru Mohammed takes on Felix Okine.
And in a special attraction, Azumah Nelson Jr., son of the legendary fighter & promoter, will be featured in an amateur bout.
All fighters on the card were hand-picked by the senior Nelson who, along with partner HeMann Promotions, is developing a reputation for putting good matchups ahead of showcase bouts.
