Twenty-four members of the Ghana national amateur boxing team, the Black Bombers, are continuing their non-residential camping and preparations for the 2017 Africa Boxing championship with daily training at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The team consists of 20 men and four women. They have been training for three weeks ahead of the stiff competition, which is scheduled to take place in Brazzaville, Congo, beginning on May 27 through June 4.
The Black Bombers are sticking to a strict regimen, training at the Stadium each day, beginning at 6:00 am to 9:00 am and then capping it off with further training in the evening at their respective gyms.
The Ghana Boxing Federation, led by acting President George Lamptey, is currently working on raising funds to provide residential camping for the boxers as the competition draws near.
Ghana is expected to select boxers to compete in 11 weight categories at the Continental Fight Fiesta which serves as qualifiers to the AIBA world championship to be held in Hamburg, Germany August and September this year.
